Phlebotomy Technician Training

Program

AoH’s Phlebotomy Training program is a 5-month, 200 hours of classroom instruction and lab skills practice sessions.  It  prepares Phlebotomy students with the knowledge, training, and skills to enable them to perform basic blood-drawing procedures, patient care, and equipment maintenance. Students learn under the direction of an onsite licensed instructor. Upon successful completion of theory, skills and clinical requirements, students can sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) .Upon successful completion, AoH will help them with employment opportunities in a variety.of healthcare settings and facilities.

Daytime Classes (Limited Seats)
Where: Ward 5 Daytime and Ward 8 Evening only
Time: 10-2:30 (Ward 5 Daytime)
Evening time: 5-9 pm (Ward 8)
Days: Monday – Thursday
Terms: 2 (Fall and Winter/Spring only)
Instruction: On Site

Requirements

  • High school diploma or qualifying progress
  • CASAS Reading score 235+ | CASAS Math score 210+
  • Northstar digital literacy score 75%+
  • Advising session with Workforce staff
  • Pass a background check and DC-mandated drug screening
  • Health documentation (Covid19, TB and immunization records)
