Course Listings

The Career Training programs at Academy of Hope are designed to assist English language learners in obtaining entry-level certifications in high-wage, high-demand sectors within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Students participate in classroom instruction and hands-on work in small cohorts, led by industry professionals. After completing the program, students receive industry-recognized certifications, enhancing their qualifications for entry-level positions with family-sustaining wages in sought-after industries. The program also offers support through internship opportunities, post-secondary education advising, and employability skills coaching.

The Workforce Programs will run throughout the Winter and Spring term, from February to June. No new programs will begin in April.

Healthcare

Certified Nurse Aide Training Program

The Certified Nurse Aide Training program offered by AoH spans 5 months and consists of 200 hours of combined classroom instruction and practical lab sessions. Following the completion of these components, students will undertake 40 hours of clinical training at one of our affiliated healthcare partner sites. Upon finishing their clinical hours, students will be eligible to take the National Nursing Assistant Assessment Program(NNAAP) exam to obtain licensure as nursing aides in DC.

Upon successful completion of the program and licensure, AoH is committed to assisting graduates in securing employment opportunities across various healthcare settings and facilities. Additionally, we provide support for those who wish to further their education, whether it be pursuing a career as a registered nurse or exploring other healthcare professions.

Phlebotomy Technician Training Program

AoH’s Phlebotomy Training program is a 5-month course with 200 hours of classroom instruction and lab practice. It equips students with the skills to perform blood-drawing procedures, patient care, and equipment maintenance under the guidance of a licensed instructor. After completing theory, skills, and clinical requirements, students can take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam to become Certified Phlebotomy Technicians (CPT). AoH also assists graduates with employment opportunities in various healthcare settings.

Medical Billing and Coding Training Program

Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School

AoH offers a medical billing and coding training program that provides comprehensive training in essential skills for accurately translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into universal alphanumeric codes. Students learn medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and the complexities of healthcare documentation. The program equips learners to navigate complex healthcare billing procedures, ensuring proper reimbursement for medical services while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and insurance requirements. Graduates are prepared for careers in healthcare administration, medical billing, coding, and health information management.

Information Technology Training Programs


CompTIA IT Programs (IT Fundamentals and A+)

AoH’s Information Technology (IT) programs provide stackable credentialing for those starting or advancing in the IT industry. While the pathway can take learners from IT Fundamentals (ITF) to Security+, it also offers flexible entry and exit points to accommodate individual needs. Throughout the program, learners will participate in hands-on internships to gain valuable IT experience. After successfully completing the program and earning certification, AoH helps learners secure careers in tech support, IT operations, and other related fields.

Please Note : AoH Staff will determine eligibility for qualifying for A+ or Security + classes.

Security +

AoH is offering the Security+ program, your gateway to a cybersecurity career. Security+ is the essential certification for those entering information security, equipping IT professionals with the competencies needed to excel and advance in the field.

Learners will explore hardware, operating systems, and networks, mastering skills to implement basic security measures across diverse computing environments. The course emphasizes the importance of network security in information technology, providing a broad understanding that lays the groundwork for further IT specialization.

Upon successful completion, students will be able to safeguard networks, devices, and traffic, preparing them for modern cybersecurity challenges. This class is the ideal preparation for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam, which validates skills for career advancement in cybersecurity.

Business

Project Management (Certified Associate in Project Management, CAPM)

The Project Management program equips participants with essential skills required to lead teams across various industries including IT, Healthcare, Construction, Manufacturing, and others. This comprehensive program offers students the chance to grasp the fundamentals of project management, covering aspects such as planning, execution, control, and project completion. Through this course, individuals learn techniques to streamline processes, foster collaboration, and inspire project teams. Upon successful completion, participants are eligible to take the Certified Associate in Project Management Certification (CAPM) exam and gain access to entry-level positions in project management
