Our volunteers are a part of the backbone of Academy of Hope. They teach, help put on events and assist the staff with the school’s daily operations. We are grateful for their commitment and contribution to Academy of Hope each day. The impact that our volunteers have on the lives of individuals and the community is exceptional. You can see it in the students’ accomplishments and the positive outcomes of our programs.
Be paired with individual learners seeking help in a particular subject (s) area (writing, math, reading, social studies, science).
Lead small groups and/or provide one on one assistance as needed. Teacher and volunteer work closely, communicate regularly about the lesson plan sharing and reviewing.
Assist learners as they work their way through the NEDP Program. Help the student to locate the resources they need or identify skills that the student will need to practice before moving on.
AoH’s Leaders of Hope Council (LOHC) acts as a champion in support of AoH. Focusing primarily on serving the Academy of Hope learners, the LOHC promotes and advances the mission of AoH through positive public relations, fundraising, and advocacy. Members of the council serve as ambassadors and door openers to invigorate their networks in meaningful ways, including connecting dollars, people, experiences, and resources. The members play a pivotal role in our ability to provide our learners with an exceptional education experience. If you are interested in learning more, please contact advancement@aohdc.org.
Assist with setting up produce and goods during our monthly mobile market, sponsored by the Capital Area Food Bank. Monthly markets are generally held on the second or third Wednesday of every month.
