This June, Unity Bands partnered with Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School (AoH) to support Nurse Aid Training (NAT) program learners.
Unity Bands is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting healthcare workers. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, it has sold white silicone wristbands with a green infinity symbol representing Hope, Fight, and Unity. All proceeds go towards healthcare causes.
Their Air Unity shoe donation initiative continues their mission by providing clinically appropriate shoes from Crocs and care packages to healthcare students and workers. Through Air Unity, 19 AoH NAT learners received a new pair of shoes and additional essential items to help them succeed in their training and future careers as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
“Every journey begins with a single step. Thank you, Air Unity, for providing the shoes that will help AoH future healthcare professionals take theirs,” Healthcare Programs Manager Mary Mickey said.
Our partnership was Unity Bands’ largest donation to date, totalling 78 pairs of shoes and care packages across all Air Unity events.
In addition, learners participated in a healthcare workers’ needs assessment to help Unity Bands understand the challenges, needs, and experiences of adults in training and entering the profession. Survey participants were entered into a raffle for a chance to win jewelry donated by Kendra Scott.
We are thankful to Unity Bands for their partnership and to Crocs, Kendra Scott, and Target in Annapolis for making this donation possible. Together, their contributions help adult learners strive towards success as they transition into new careers and economic mobility.
