Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School (AoH) is excited to announce the opening of our third location: Sycamore Campus.
Located on the sixth and seventh floors of the St. Elizabeth’s campus at 1201 Sycamore Drive SE, Sycamore opened to learners and staff for the 2026–27 school year. The campus is AoH’s third location in Washington, DC, and its second site in Ward 8, expanding the organization’s capacity to provide adult education, career training, and learner support across the District.
The opening represents an important milestone in Academy of Hope’s continued growth. As demand for accessible adult education and workforce training has increased, AoH has approached its existing enrollment capacity. Sycamore provides the space needed for responsible, phased growth while making it possible to expand programming and serve more adult learners across all eight wards.
The new campus includes 12 instructional and workforce spaces, along with central office and administrative areas, testing facilities, learner-support services, and flexible spaces for learning and collaboration. Sycamore will serve as the primary hub for much of AoH’s workforce education, bringing a number of career-training programs, classrooms, and labs together in one location.
The campus will support workforce pathways in healthcare, information technology, project management, and property management, including Certified Nursing Assistant and Phlebotomy training; CompTIA Tech+, A+, Network+, and Security+ certification preparation; Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and Project Management Professional (PMP) training; and the new Certified Apartment Leasing Professional (CALP) program.
Sycamore will also provide academic instruction, testing, workforce academics, college and career services, and student support, helping learners connect education with the next step in their academic or professional journeys.
“Sycamore is about much more than adding classrooms. It is about creating more opportunities for adults to access education, earn industry-recognized credentials, and build pathways toward family-sustaining economic mobility,” AoH Chief Executive Officer Lecester Johnson said. “As Academy of Hope grows, we remain committed to ensuring that every learner receives the same personalized, supportive experience that has defined our work for more than four decades.”
The opening of Sycamore marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Academy of Hope and the adult learners it serves. We’re excited to see how the campus will advance AoH’s commitment to helping adult learners change their lives, transform their communities, and create direct pathways to economic mobility.
