GED Prep

Classes in social studies, science, math and writing focus on developing critical thinking skills and content knowledge needed to pass the GED exam and earn a high school diploma.

National External Diploma Program (NEDP)

Learners demonstrate reading, writing, math, and workforce readiness skills in life and work contexts. Designed for self-directed adults with some familiarity with computers. Graduates earn a local high school diploma.

College Prep Classes

Application Process

The first step in applying to Academy of Hope is to complete an Interest Form. This is not an application- the Interest Form is a way for our Enrollment team to contact you and help you begin the application process.

 

After submitting your Interest Form, the Enrollment team will contact you by email or phone with the next steps for enrollment. You can complete your enrollment online, or at one of our in-person enrollment events.

Winter enrollment event dates – TBA

During enrollment, you will be required to provide proof of your DC home address. Our school can only accept documents from the following list:

One of the following:

 Official documentation of financial assistance from DC government (TANF, Medicaid, SNAP, housing assistance, etc.) dated within the last year.
 Pay stub showing DC tax withholding dated within 45 days of registration
 SSI or SSDI Income Statement
 D-40 Form Certified by the DC Office of Tax and Revenue
 Verification letter and military orders or DEERs statement
 Embassy letter indicating embassy sponsored housing in DC with embassy seal 

OR Two of the following

 Unexpired DC motor vehicle registration
 Unexpired DC motor vehicle operator’s license, permit or official non-driver identification
 Unexpired lease with proof of payment within the last 2 months
 Utility bill (gas, water, or electricity bill only) with proof of payment within the last 2 months

Academy of Hope’s programs and services are free to DC residents over the age of 18. Applicants must be prepared to provide proof of DC residency. Academy of Hope accepts the following documents as proof of residency. Please see the ‘Application Process’ section for more information about proof of residency.
